THE ART OF FALLING, EPISODE 2: ADVANCED FALLING SCENARIOS

The Art of Falling, Episode 2: Advanced Falling Scenarios
Falling is an inevitable part of life. Whether from a slip on ice, a missed step, a sports injury, or simply the unexpected, the way we fall can make a significant difference in the outcome. In this second episode of The Art of Falling, Vlad focuses on practical skills that can help reduce the risk of injury in everyday situations.
Building on the foundations introduced in Episode 1, this session places greater emphasis on active participation and guided practice. Through detailed video demonstrations and simple movement exercises, participants will have opportunities to explore how the body can respond more safely and effectively when balance is lost.
Drawing on techniques from multiple martial arts traditions, including practices inspired by judo, Vlad will demonstrate a variety of falling scenarios: forward falls, backward falls, side falls, and falls from greater heights. The goal is not to become an athlete or martial artist, but to develop embodied habits that can help protect the body when accidents happen.
In addition to physical techniques, the session will introduce a mindfulness-based approach to falling. Participants will learn how to perform a rapid body scan in the moments immediately following a fall—an often-overlooked skill that can help assess injuries, reduce panic, and support a calmer, more skillful response.
Whether you are interested in injury prevention, movement education, martial arts, or simply becoming more resilient in daily life, this workshop offers practical tools that can be applied by people of all ages and backgrounds.
Join us to learn, move, and build confidence in one of life’s most universal experiences: falling safely.
