Dharma Service (普佛)Every Saturday, Auspicious Dharma Service (吉祥普佛) is performed during morning chant. Every Sunday, Memorial Dharma Service(超荐普佛) is performed during evening chant.
Dharma Service is a Buddhist chanting ritual that sends best wishes and blessings to the living and the deceased. Through paying reverence to the Buddhas, confessing our karma, making offering to the Three Jewels, the goal is fulfilled. There are two types of Dharma Service: Auspicious Dharma Service, or Memorial Dharma Service. The purpose of Auspicious Dharma Service is to pray for the living, for prosperity, longevity, heath, peace, and protection from disasters. The purpose of Memorial Dharma Service is to pray for the deceased, to help them eliminate karmic obstacles, be reborn in the Pure Land, and be freed from life and death cycles. Both Auspicious Dharma Service and Memorial Dharma Service have the same core content: through the performer’s sincere mind, vows, taking refuge, praying, confessing, and relying on the power of the Buddha's original wish, the goal of benefiting both beings is fulfilled by bringing happiness to the living and bringing liberation to the deceased.
