Every family has its own difficulty to deal with. This quote from Buddhism reveals the nature of suffering in life.

It is very common that life doesn’t live up to our expectation. What Buddhism emphasizes is not to make everything perfect in our lives, but rather to let us gain the ability to overcome difficulties, through learning and practice. The real help of Bodhisattva is enabling us to correctly recognize and understand the actual state of affairs. First, be capable of discerning right from wrong, and then resolve the issues through compassion and wisdom.

It’s especially important to use kind words at home. With family, we should pay more attention to love, and not just reasoning.

During a meditation retreat, a female Buddhist layperson said: "Every morning, I put on makeup, dress up, go out, and show the best part of me to strangers. After I return home, I remove my makeup, lose my temper, and show the worst part of me to my loved ones."

How could this happen? This is because we have no wisdom to deeply understand our minds. To practice Buddhism is to see through the delusions, afflictions, and attachments in the world, and reveal their true colors.​
