See-Through It, But Don’t Point It Out Directly"

As the saying goes, “it is easier to laugh at others than to reflect on one’s own flaws.”It is more likely for people to see others’ faults that to realize their own problems.

One day, a disciple made a mistake. The master called the disciple and the monastic manager to Meditation Room and began to reprimand the monastic manager severely. Seeing what his mater was doing, the disciple gloated at the monastic manager, thinking, ”Look at you, who always keep a rein on us. Now, it serves you right.”

At that time, the monastic manager was really humble and mild, keeping replying “yes, yes,” in face of the master’s stern reproach.

However, after a while, the disciple found that the master glanced at him while reprimanding the monastic manager. The disciple began to think, why? On second thoughts he realized,” Oh my goodness, the wrong things my master reproaches him for were actually done by me. ”

At that moment, the disciple felt really ashamed as he immediately had the epiphany: “the master saves my face though my face is not worth saving. The master protects me when I am most in need of protection, and it is an education. In addition, from this act, I learn how to get along with people and treat others in the future.”

The story above explains what is “seeing through it, but don’t point it out directly” from the perspective of Buddhism. In worldly games, many people even do not know such wisdom in the world. However, if they devote themselves to study, and practice it diligently, gradually they will make it out.
